Healthy Me Challenge 2009

January 13, 2009 by Mary

Healthy You Challenge Check In.  Check.  I have decided to start referring to it during my updates at the Healthy Me Challenge 2009.  Its meant to be a personal quest/challenge and I want to start thinking of it in those terms.  So here is to a healthy me in 2009.

Anyway, I’m all checked in so I might as well tell you how I’ve been doing.

My eating has sucked.  Suck, suck, suckage, suckity, sucked!  I have been eating crap still and I know that its bad for me and I don’t want to eat it really, but I still have.  I attribute this mostly to the fact that I am terrible at eating when and what my brothers eat.  When I am alone or at a restaurant or with friends I make pretty good choices 94.3% of the time.  But when I am chilling at home and my brothers are around I tend to eat whatever they eat.  This is a BAD thing considering their main food groups are pizza, sweets, and fast food.

However, I am getting back on track with exercise.  Woohoo!  I love to exercise and be active so I’m glad I am almost back to my normal workout schedule.  The holidays through me off with the gym being closed and all my family being home.  I wish I belonged to a 24 hour gym because you better believe I would have gone to workout at 1 am after everyone went to sleep.  Thats what I would do it college and if I wasn’t a member of a gym with ‘normal’ hours I would still do it.  Anyway, I had a really good workout yesterday with 30 minutes of elliptical goodness and an upper body workout.  I probably could have and should have amped up the weights part of the workout.  I really have nada upper body strength.  But it was still a good workout.  And tonight I will workout again and do yoga.  Or at least attempt to do yoga.  Its my first time so I will let you know how that goes.

Hope everyone else is doing great and being healthy in the new year!

94.3% huh? That is pretty darn exact.

Great job on the workout. I hit the elliptical and did upper body myself yesterday!

Way to go! Keep it up!

Your eating maybe from suckville, but at least you are exercising. Hopefully those two worlds will collide soon for you. Often that combo seems very illusive.

Hi there! That’s a bummer about your brother (ie your last comment), but great job on the exercising. I’m doing about the same ~ trying to get back into the habit of exercising, then I’ll worry about fine tuning the food. I actually missed working out over the holidays ~ must be a good sign:-)

Keep working out and take baby steps with the eating to get it under control for that other 5.7 percent. ;-)
