Horseback Riding and Shopping

Yesterday we went horseback riding!  I was reluctant to go because my first experience with horses wasn’t very fun.  Last time I was in Honduras we rode horses up a very steep mountain to the top for ziplining.  It was my first time on a horse, it was scary, and it didn’t leave me feeling very good about riding horses.  But this was a different experience… it was calmer, easier, and my horse was named Bob.  You can’t go wrong with a horse named Bob.

Yeah, it was a fun experience.  Bob was a very calm, very mellow big old horse who pulls the sleigh during the winter.  He refused to go at any speed other than “Bob’s speed” for most of the ride.  Seriously, he seemed pretty content to be lazy and would have been happy not to go anywhere.  He even took shortcuts across the fields so he would walk less than the other horses.  Oh, Bob.  The best part was when we were almost back and he broke out into a trot because he knew he was almost home.  Bob finally had a little pep in his step when he realized it was time for him to sit around and be lazy again.

After the trail ride we all did our Green Mountain stretches so we wouldn’t be sore the next day.  It worked pretty well and I’m not feeling much of anything even though my legs were on fire the second I got off Bob.  Thankfully stretching really helped.  Remember to stretch kids, it’s important!

(Thank you Shannon for letting me go!  I’m so happy I got to go and have a fun experience with horses.)

Today a few of us went shopping at the outlet stores and right now I’m sitting in the lobby area watching an impromptu fashion show of the trip’s results.  I bought some comfy/workout clothes at the Gap Outlet in Manchester, VT, so I’m wearing them but they aren’t the kind of clothes you show off.  However they feel amazing.  I wanted longer workout pants to wear when it gets colder and I’m so excited that they feel so good.  Comfy clothes are the best!!

[Unfortunately we are having both an iphone and brain malfunction over here so meals and moves are delayed.  I’ll edit the post later to add them in.]

I would have to say horseback riding was the highlight of my weekend.  Bob showed me a good time. ;)    So what was the highlight of your weekend?

I have an agreement with horses: I stay off them, they stay off me.

You really seem to be making a place for yourself at GM. Keep broadening them horizons…

Horses are so big! But one named Bob sounds about the right pace for me. Bob is a nice calm name.

It sounds like you are having a great experience.
