I usually never carry cash, but I recently have worked a few gigs where I was paid directly in cash. This resulted in coins piling up all around me after I broke $20 bills when purchasing items. I had coins hanging out in jars on my desk, in my car, at the bottom of my purse… everywhere!
I decided this disorganization was crazy and that is real money I have laying around everywhere! Sure it’s just coins… but coins add up! I decided to find a few ways to sort, count, and organize my coins so none get lost and I have an easier time finally using and depositing this money in the bank.
Here are some of the cool coin sorting options I came across while doing my research. There are lots of options to make sorting coins and wrapping coins and counting coins a lot easier. Hopefully these coin sorters will make your life easier if you’ve got a lot of coins rattling around everywhere like I did!

Exactly the kind of thing you’ll want to have on hand if you get lots of change and hate sorting through it coin by coin. This manual sorter is easy to use and will make life a lot easier when sorting your change!
DE Digital Counting Coin Bank Savings Jar
DE Digital Counting Coin Bank Savings Jar
This little digital bank counts your money for you! It doesn’t help with the sorting aspect like the rest of the items in this post, but knowing how much money you have in change is really useful. Instead of guessing at the amount in the jar you can just check the number and see if it’s enough to deposit or buy something you want. The digital display keeps track of your savings via coins and makes it easy to get in and get the money you have saved.

These color coded trays are color coded to conform to Federal Reserve/ABA standards for coin denominations and make it easier for you to quickly sort through coins. You simple pour coins onto the top tray and shake. Coins will automatically sort themselves with the specific size holes allowing coins to pass through. It save you hours of sorting time. The trays are made of a high-impact plastic that allows them to stand up to every day use.
Color-Coded Coin Counting Tube
Color-Coded Coin Counting Tube for Pennies Through Quarters
Before looking into how to sort coins, I never knew these little things existed! They are color coded coin tubes that are easy to load and require little effort with a big return in time saved. You just drop coins into the tube until the excess spills from the slot and then insert a wrapper invert and coins are counted and wrapped in no time. It definitely saves time with the wrapper part of sorting coins so you could use these tubes with any of the other sorting coin options.
Flat Tubular Coin Wrappers
MMF Industries Flat Tubular Coin Wrappers, Color-Coded Kraft Paper
When you finally get down to the actual wrapping of sorted coins you’ll need to have the proper color coded coin wrappers. I always used to love wrapping coins as a kid – it was actually one of my favorite activities to do with my father and siblings. You can buy these wrappers very cheaply on Amazon or get them from your local bank. If you are going to be going through lots of change and need to sort and wrap it for taking it to the bank then buying a few hundred of these bad boys is a great idea!
You can also get these coin wrappers for free from banks so ask for some next time you stop in!
I hope these coin sorters help you save your money instead of letting it disappear into the abyss. Good luck sorting your coins and keeping your change!
