I Joined A Gym!

A few days ago I contacted the YMCA where I worked before I went off to travel around the world. I asked if they would help me out and waive the joining fee and of course they agreed.

Today during my lunch break I walked over to the Y and signed up as a member!

The change in my commute allows me to go to the Y easily three days a week and potentially even 5-6 days a week.

I’m really grateful for this update because I’m craving some hardcore cardio. I like walking but it’s not enough for me to get my heart rate up and break out a real sweat (Memphis is pretty flat… give me some hills and that’s a different story).

I’ve always loved the Y. I learned to swim at a YMCA. I’ve worked there on and off since I graduated high school. Actually, getting a job at the YMCA is what originally started my weight loss journey years ago. If I’m able to afford it I always prefer to belong to a YMCA versus another gym.

So now I’m a gym member again. I hope this bodes well for my wedding diet/get in shape plans. It will also be a major help in the area of stress relief. I’ll be able to spend time by myself at the gym or in the pool instead of being around my constantly stressful family.

Sounds great to me!

I can’t wait to work out tomorrow. I’m going to start working out in the mornings right before work instead of walking. I’m really excited!

Apparently until 10 pm tonight Memphis is at high risk for bad storms and tornadoes. I’m hoping nothing happens because I’m a fan of tornadoes. Remember when a tornado hit my college? Yeah. Not fun. It’s not fun before, during, or after. And reading about all the storms and tornadoes this week makes me more sure than ever I never want to be that close to a tornado again! So hopefully we get the tail end of it or nothing at all. Good luck to everyone else in the path of the storms too! Stay safe!

That is such great news! I have so much more energy when I work out and it’s a major stress reducer. Sounds like it’s just what you needed!

    Those storms are scare me!

I think so! I love YMCAs. They can be more expensive but they are worth it.

Joining a gym sounds like a good idea. I am currently working out at home, but I like the gm better. Nice info on here, by the way.

I’m also a member of my local Y!!! Love the pool.
And oh, the tornados stuff. I have too many americans in my reader to not care or to not get nervous. Specially since so many gringos actually blog about being close to the winds, and the images I see on TV. Thanksfully, I jump on twitter and you all seems to be fine. My feelings are with those affected.

I survived! It was scary to not know what was going on while hearing the tornado sirens. I like to know where the storm/tornado is in my county!

That’s great that you joined a gym but it sucks that you had to deal with the tornado situation. The people at the Y are pretty great for waving the fee.
