Self-care has been on my mind a lot lately which is why I had to share this guest post. Like a lot of women, I have a tendency to let self-care slip since it doesn’t feel like a priority. This leads to a downward spiral of bad moods, bad eating, and harm to myself. Today’s guest post covers a few awesome ways to counteract this by changing how you feel and how you treat yourself. I hope it touches you today and helps you where you are!
It’s Not How You Look, It’s How You Feel!
You ever wake up some mornings and just feel like the world is a great place, you’re thrilled about live, and the face you see in the mirror? What about mornings you wake up and you just want to go to bed, you know it’s going to be a horrible day, and you just can’t stand to look at yourself in the mirror? How did you feel the rest of the day, did it depend on how you felt when you woke up? For many people that is what happens, a bad mood just continues to spiral.
You don’t have to wake up in a good mood, or even like what you look like in the mirror in order to feel like a great person. You just need to do some things to change your attitude and make yourself feel beautiful. Internal beauty radiates to the outside, and you can make your inner beauty shine so bright that no possible flaw could bring you down, not even a pimple on the tip of your nose!
Start With An Attitude Of Gratitude
One way to help you feel awesome, even on the worst days, is to start every day (and end every day) with gratitude. What are you grateful for? There are so many things to be grateful for in life, from the ability to smile to the opportunity to do nice things for others. You can be grateful for things, like your home and hot water, and you can be thankful for a loving partner or simply the ability to dream.
Start with a list of the things you are grateful for that day. If that doesn’t put a smile on your face then make sure you have great affirmations hung around your home. An affirmation is simply a positive statement of achievement. Think, “I am beautiful, and my smile radiates awesomeness.” You can make up your own affirmations, just make sure they are positive. Hang one on your front door, on the bathroom mirror, and on the refrigerator.
Do Some Things To Pamper Yourself
Taking care of yourself is an easy way to feel good about yourself and about life. That can start out by simply eating healthy foods and adding a little exercise into your daily routine. You don’t need to be skinny or fit into the role of model to be beautiful, you just need to learn to be comfortable in your own body. It may help to simply do your makeup, or even get a pedicure or manicure.
There are some other things that you can do to help pamper yourself to make you feel better about who you are, and even maybe feel more comfortable in your skin. Take some time to pamper yourself with a relaxing massage. The MassageTableOutlet site is a great place to learn about all of the wonderful benefits that massages can offer. You could even start doing massages on your own and spread that joy and relaxation to others.
Think Of The Things That Make You Smile
One more way to help yourself feel great and uplift your mood is to do things that make you smile. A smile is contagious, and your own smiles will help you keep smiling more often. Start by writing a list of things that make you smile, which can easily be gone back to down the road when you need a reminder.
For some people a smile can come from something right in their own homes, maybe a picture of your family or a certain scent. For others a smile comes from something outside of the home, like a funny shaped cloud or walking barefoot in the sand.
If you feel beautiful on the inside you will quickly start to see your true beauty on the outside. Some days it is hard to feel beautiful, but if you follow these tips it will be hard not to feel beautiful!
I think you are exactly right. I’ve spent so much of this year focusing on how tight/bad all my clothes fit instead of on simply taking good care of myself by making healthy choices. Sounds so simple…..it is….and it’s not.
