If I’m going to lose 50 lbs this year I need to have a starting point.
Last January I weighed in at 215 lbs. I’d fluctuated between 211 and 215 for the year before that and was at the higher end after the holidays.
Over the last year I admit I didn’t focus on weight loss much. Or at all. I didn’t have a gym membership for a third of the year and I couldn’t stick with counting calories to save my life.
So how much weight did I gain?
I weighed in this morning at 207.
That’s a net loss of 8 lbs for the year of 2012.
My first response is obviously meh. 8 lbs? In a year? Not impressive. Then I checked my thoughts and decided even though it’s not much, it is better than gaining back all the weight I’ve lost. Did that once before, it sucked, don’t plan on doing it again.
The weight loss from 2009 is pretty permanent at this point. I don’t feel in danger of getting back to the 250+ range. That’s a victory in itself! However, I don’t want to stay where I am forever weight wise . That is why I’m planning to push ahead and make 2013 the year where I lose weight again. Odd years seem to be good to me.
I’m looking forward to the weigh in next January where I can reflect on my progress from this coming year. It’s going to be sweet.
