I’m a little late in writing up this post but I recently shared our July budget on YouTube!
For our July budget I’m hoping to tighten up the reigns and get the ship on the right path. We spent way too much in the last three months as we adjusted to life with a baby (and without a budget plan).
Variable Spending
I’m hoping to stick with our planned variable expenses so that spending stays under $1,000 for the month.
- Groceries – $400
- Eating out – $150
- Gas – $125
- Gifts – $50
- Biz – $50
- Shopping – $100
- Personal – $100
- Starbucks – $25
There is obviously a lot of room in there still to make us not feel so strict but also cuts back a lot on all the crazy free spirit spending we had been doing.
Spending on food is where we need to cut back the most. We have been bouncing back and forth between buying expensive healthy food to cook at home and going out to eat way too much. That’s the one variable spending category that needs the most work.
Sinking Funds
We are also bringing back sinking funds this month since our emergency fund is almost complete.
We have a few big categories where a large expense will come eventually so we want to save up for that expense.
Here are the new sinking funds with contribution amounts this month:
- Car Repair/Replace – $200
- House Projects – $200
- Vacation – $100
- Pets – $50
Since those sinking funds are all starting over it will be a while before we can do anything big with any of them.
So that’s our July budget. Fingers crossed we stick to it!
