Keeping The Brain Engaged

August 14, 2012 by Mary

Today was a super successful day in terms of healthy living! I worked out my brain and my body and ate well – all the things needed for the day to be a success.

We ate cabbage pasta again for dinner and this time I managed to add even more veggies.

Veggie pasta

I’ve discovered the best way to do it is equal parts pasta to vegetables. In the mix was cabbage, spinach, and mixed stir fry veg. Along with ground turkey and a tomato sauce… YUM. I feel a lot better eating pasta when it’s 1) whole wheat and 2) served along with lots of vegetables.

Before dinner I made up a circuit workout for myself so I could exercise at home quickly. The circuit was as follows:

Workout circuit aug 14

I did a few rounds and was breathing hard at the end.

I think I officially might be out of shape! I was surprised how hard it felt just by the second round which is a sure sign that I’ve let my fitness slip way too far. That’s a bummer but I will work my way back to being more fit… starting with that workout! I like making up circuit workouts for myself because it keeps my brain more engaged than if I’m just doing cardio or following a video or whatever.

Speaking of keeping my brain engaged…. back to the sudoku puzzles I’ve been doing all day today!

Puzzle

Do you like sudoku? How do you like to engage your brain?

recently it has been a daily effort.

as simple stuff as driving a new way home.

    SOOO SOOO CRUCIAL.

Yummy! That pasta looks delicious! I’ve been trying to cook with cabbage more lately (because I never know what to do with it), so here’s one more thing I an add it to.

I think I’ll try that cabbage pasta. It looks really good. I’m going to try going half and half with pasta and veggies too. Pasta is my weakness.

Also just a heads up. I stopped getting your rss feed recently. It says there’s some kind of error with it.

Cool! I just cook the cabbage for about 5 minutes in the boiling water before I put the pasta in and then I add more veggies toward the end. It ends up being a pretty healthy mix. Pasta is sooo good!

Bummer! Thanks for letting me know. I’ll try to see if I can fix it.

I just love sudoku….actually I have this as an app in my phone with thousands of levels. Solving atleast one daily is in my routine. Also, your pasta looks yummy….can’t wait more for this.

No, i used to have sudoku on an old phone, but i only could do the easy beginner’s level. Numbers are NOT my friend lol. Numbers literally make my head hurt. My brain is not engaged enough at all, but i do read a lot and sometimes take random classes, like last week, an html class and photography the week before that.
