This is me.
Today. And all week.
Being back in the office is fun but it’s a whole different lifestyle than living in New Zealand and working from home. There is definitely a lot more sitting. When I’m at home I’m usually standing to work a lot more than I do here since we are in an open office work environment and it’s just a bit weird.
I’m trying to stay healthy despite my increase amount of sitting.
- I’m drinking more water. See that bottle in the photo? It’s big and I drink a couple of those a day.
- We walk at lunch. It is awesome to have a couple coworkers who like getting out of the office for a short stroll.
- I’ve brought my lunch multiple days! Saving money and being healthy all at the same time. Win.
I’ve also been crazy busy at work. That means doing the normal things like writing articles about social media and the more fun things like playing with our office dog.
That’s Sophie! She is the cute little furbaby of a coworker. She is spending the morning at the office and it’s so fun to watch her run around. She makes me miss JuJu even more!
Back to work for me now. I’ll be back at some point soon to share about the food truck rally that happened in Memphis yesterday at lunch. I love food trucks so the fact that Memphis has a food truck scene now makes me super happy. Post coming soon, I promise!
Do you work in an office? How do you stay healthy?
Ooooh, excited about the food truck crawl! I’ve never done that, because I’m in the burbs. I stay healthy at work by trying to bring my lunch 4 out of 5 days. My team always goes out on Fridays. I’m trying to drink water as well. Have a fabulous weekend!
Also, thanks for the blogging tips tab!
I might try bringing my lunch every day and going out Fridays. That sounds like the best of both worlds!
Ahh!! Office schnauzer! I wish I could bring one of mine into work.
I know! She reminded me immediately of yours! So adorable!
That dog is so cute! I wish we could have a dog in the office.
First, I had so much fun at the food truck rodeo yesterday! I wish I could have tried something from each truck! I wrote about it (and mentioned you!) last night: http://www.triumphstrialstribulations.blogspot.com/2012/05/food-truck-thursday.html
Second, I’m so jealous that you have an office dog! That would never work in our big company because there would be too many dogs, but it would be fun to try once in a while. Not that either of my current dogs would meet the criteria of being an office dog!!
I bring my own food to the office. I eat six times a day, and four of those times are at work. I find that if I bring my own food and stay semi-full throughout the day, I’m less inclined to eat the doughnuts or cupcakes that seem to find their way into the break room.
I’ve had good luck encouraging shorter sit-down meetings by putting a loaded pistol on the table in front of myself and mumbling incoherently. I don’t know why, but it works!
I’m an office dweller too!!! =)
I’m lucky though because my job is managing the front office of a peds clinic so I’m up and down all day. I can’t stand sitting for more than ~10 min now though, I go crazy. It’s bad.
I want an office dog!!!!!!
Food trucks are fun. There is a big roundup of them every Friday during their season, which is now, so I want to go over there one week. Your office is better than the average office..esp with a dog. Sometimes random kids come in here, but never any dogs.. :( lol. Great photo of you! My coworkers and I were just discussing how bad it is for us to sit all day, the other day. Cubes are so non-user friendly.
I used to do the office stuff – not a fan! ;-) I still did the gym thing though & was so happy when the 24 hour gyms hit the scene! ;-)
Awww…I love it when dogs are in the office. And your office dog is a cute, but not as cute as Juju. (don’t tell anyone I said that!! :) ) Have a wonderful weekend.
You have an office dog! How cool! Your Office Sophie could meet my Shih poo Sophie. ;-)
I work in an office, but it’s out of my boss’s house. The most I get up is to get a file – just a few steps away, go to get coffee, about 15 feet away and go to the bathroom – about 25 feet away. Horrible, I know! I do get out to do errands and try to park far to walk into places when I do. I bring little snacks to keep me satisfied throughout the day. (Fruit, mini babybel cheeses, nuts a piece of dark chocolate. Then I come home and go for a run. It’s become habit now!
Those are great habits for anyone to follow, no matter where they work. I also like to start my day with exercise and a healthy breakfast that includes protein and healthy fats to get my metabolism going. During the day I make sure I take at least a 5 minute break every hour to get up and move around, even if it is going to the copy machine or walking through the warehouse. After work, I like to keep active – exercise, walking the neighbor’s dog, or working in the garden, rather than sitting in front of the TV or on the computer.
I work in an office and I just use quick, no brainer ways to stay in shape. Like parking in the furthest spot, bringing lunch, drinking water, walking around the building when it’s cold and when it’s hot going outside for lunch, it only take 15 minutes to eat then I walk with a friend.
Good job on trying to stay healthy at the office!!
I too work at an office job and trying to stay healthy is hard. I bring my own lunch most days. As well, since the gym opened up in the building that employees have access to for free, the whole company has been more health conscious which has really helped. Less junk food and treats are being brought in. I also try to surround myself with the people who have healthy habits, not the ones who walk to DQ for ice cream at lunch!
