For the last two days I’ve been feeling lighter.
I know I’m not really light. I’m still 200+ pounds. But I’ve felt lighter physically and mentally. It’s a cool feeling.
Physically, just a couple pounds down and I’m feeling light already. I think that has more to do with how I’m eating than anything else. Less carbs clearly agrees with me as I’m feeling less sluggish and heavy all the time.
Mentally I also feel much lighter and clear minded. I’ve not only cut out some foods but also some big things like communication with certain people, sentimental clutter, and more debt. I feel much lighter without all the negative emotions associated with certain people and things.
Right now I’m just cleaning up everything in my life. My eating, my associations, all of it. I already feel lighter.
I totally know the feeling about getting rid of certain people, clutter and debt. It’s amazing how much of a change that can make.
Getting rid of the stuff that weighs you down in all those ways is a great idea I need to do some of that myself.
I know exactly what you mean!
Just last year, around wedding time, I realized there were certain people that just needed to NOT be in my life anymore. It’s always a hard task, even when you know it’s for the best. Debt, don’t even get me started. I feel lik student loans will NEVER go away. ;)
Most importantly, in my opinion, is the sentimental clutter – – and it’s the part I have the hardest time with. Moving on is hard.
Keep it up, friend! I hope you have a light and bouncy day :D
Student loans are the worst. Haha. That’s the debt I’m working on now. I know it’s “good” because I got an education and had great experiences, but I’d love to be rid of these payments!
Thanks Emily! :)
Isn’t it interesting how our relationship with food, mirrors our relationship with money?
Totally. I’ve found through talking with a lot of people that debt and weight issues tend to go hand in hand. I’m cleaning up both and it feels good to get rid of them both!
Good for you Mary! Sometimes we need to re-evaluate the people in our lives and as I like to call it…”weed the garden.” ;-)
A little weeding never hurt anyone. It gives you room to grow! :)
Yep, sometimes distancing yourself from certain people helps A LOT with weight loss. I’m happy to read that you’re feeling so good! I love how I feel when I decrease my carb intake. Amazing, isn’t it?
It’s totally amazing. It’s like a secret drug!
I really love this post – you are so mature and sensible for the age I know you are. I admire you for your clear way of sorting out what you need, for being able to be so loving and productive at the same time.
And yes, just simply getting rid of oppositional, combative, passive agressive people can give everyone a lift — it makes life more livable.
Thanks for a little lift for me today from reading this blog!
Thanks Suzy. Glad I could give you a little joy today! :)
“Housecleaning” is always something we can do to make our lives happier and easier. In the last year I’ve let go many physical possessions, walked away from so-called friendships, and worked on my diet which on good days I always feel great.
Great job getting started with this!
I cleaned my office and got rid of things I haven’t used nor looked for in years. Surprisingly, that made me feel lighter mentally! ;-)
