Y’all know I buy a ton of stuff on Amazon and link to it often here as an affiliate. Amazon has long been my favorite online shopping source because it’s super easy, they really take care of customers, and you can buy almost anything. Need a new tv? Paper towels? Health products? They’ve got everything.
However, I just learned about Audible and the deal they have going on. I’m in love with this!
Jason has been using Audible for about 6 months now to listen to audio books while he drives to and from work. I didn’t really think about signing up until this week when I realized I could get two free books (I love free stuff).
If you aren’t familiar with Audible, it’s an Amazon company that offers the world’s largest selection of digital audiobooks and spoken word content. Similar to the Amazon cloud library of e-books I use, you get access to professionally-narrated audiobooks in a variety of genres.
If you have a long commute or like to listen to something interesting during boring cardio then audiobooks might be a good option.
The are offering a free Audible trial right now that is a pretty good deal so I finally signed up to try it. The free trial includes:
- Two free audiobooks with your free trial.
- 180,000+ best sellers, new releases sci-fi, romances, mysteries, classics, and more.
- After 30 days, get 1 book each month, $14.95/month.
- Cancel easily anytime. Your books are yours to keep, even if you cancel.
I’ll be honest, I’m not sure if I’ll stick with Audible or not, but getting two free books to enjoy during our upcoming vacation with a 6+ hour drive was too sweet to pass up. Since you get two free audiobooks I’m considering one non-fiction (The Happiness Project) and one fiction book (The Martian).
I’ve always loved reading during long road trips so this will be a fun way to continue that tradition and keep it exciting. If you’re driving a lot this week too then it might be worth trying! The one thing I’m most interested to try is switching between reading and listening. I already buy a lot of books for my kindle so being able to switch from reading on the Kindle to listening to Audible without losing my place sounds amazing.
If you’re a fan of audiobooks or just want to try them, now’s a good time. Get the trial here.
Also a great option for always free audiobooks is your local library – they have an amazing selection nowadays and you can download and then transfer to an mp3 and listen in your car. Savings? $160/year, which is substantial. I use my library for nearly all Kindle books as well – free!
With the library, I expect to put the latest titles on hold … they come up fairly quickly, but I always find several at any time that I enjoy.
Great tip!
