Love For My New Bicycle

November 2, 2010 by Mary

You guys, I’m in love…

with my new bike.

Yes! I finally got a bike today!  I now have a bike for triathlon training, for riding around for fun, for getting me to places I need to go… yes, this bike has many purposes and I’m really glad it’s finally mine.

It currently makes me happy just to look at it…

I might be the happiest person alive because this afternoon I did my bike workout on an actual bike!

Riding outside with hills and wind is much harder than the stationary bike at the gym but it’s soooo much more fun.

Really I wasn’t even planning on getting the bike today. We’ve been stalking every bike store in our area for the last month or so, and today we went again just to look and BAM – huge sale. The bikes were 40% and therefore fit into our budget finally. Major win. We walked into the store expected nothing and walked out with bikes.

I still need to get a helmet so I can ride it on the streets. I did my bike ride today at a park on a paved path so I didn’t necessarily have to have a helmet, but once I get one I’m hitting the streets! Triathlon training for real!

I’ve also got to get a bike lock since my bike is my main form of transportation now and I absolutely can’t have it stolen. It’s staying safely within my reach until I have the necessary forms of security to keep my baby safe. ;) And even then I’ll keep an eye on it.

I now have all of my “triathlon training toys” and I couldn’t be happier.  I feel legit now, at least somewhat (it’s not like this is a racing bike or anything). Yes, me and my bicycle will be very happy together, riding off into the sunset….

Update: This bike has been very good to me! It was the bike I used in my first triathlon.
