Over the weekend I went to Pyro’s Pizza here in Memphis where I created this masterpiece:
Wood fired pizza with:
- pesto sauce
- roasted chicken
- mozzerella
- caramelize onions
- sundried tomatoes
- artichoke hearts
- garlic
- spinach
It was amazing. So good. Even better? I had leftovers which were my lunch today. It’s National Pizza Pie Day, apparently, which makes my lunch today PERFECT. Tasty and celebrating a food holiday!
Seriously, this pizza was fantastic. It’s from one of my current favorite places to eat in Memphis: Pyro’s Fire Fresh Pizza.
Pyro’s Fire Fresh Pizza is a local chain that serves customizable gourmet pizza in four minutes. It’s basically Subway for pizza and it’s amazing. They’ve got three location here in Memphis now, and people really seem to enjoy the fast casual pizza option. Pyro’s vision is to provide delicious food, at an affordable price, in a fun environment. I’d say they are succeeding.
Pyro’s serves both pizza and salads which are fully customizable and cost the same amount no matter how many toppings you get (great deal, yo!). They also have a lot of drink options and bites for snacking and apps.
My go to order when I eat at Pyro’s is usually a snack size pizza and a small salad. It’s the perfect amount of pizza with a side of deliciously fresh healthy stuff. I get to pick all the toppings on each and like trying out different combination each time I go through the line. The pizza itself is delicious and definitely what you make it. It’s thin crust and the toppings always melt well to make a perfect combination. The amount of different types of toppings you get is unlimited, but a serving size is already pre-determined – so you won’t get a ton of chicken like you might on an entree salad at another restaurant.
The service lately has been hit or miss as I usually get my pizza in no time but last time it got lost in the shuffle and I waited quite a while. Even with a “slow” experience you still get a customized pizza in half the time it would take a traditional place to make you one so I can’t really complain. The staff is always super fun and friendly and they like to joke with customers which makes the environment fun and friendly. I get the feeling that Pyro’s only hires fun people – who doesn’t want to visit a place where everyone is fun and happy?
If you’re in Memphis, I highly recommend checking it out. Maybe I’ll run into you!

This is like my dream restaurant!
There is a place by us that does wood fired pizzas and they are the best.
It’s sooo good! Wood fired, customized, healthy options… it really is amazing.
