I love trying new foods for the first time.
Today I met up with my foodie buddies for a lunch at a local Vietnamese restaurant. We wanted to go to Saigon Le in Memphis because we heard great things about it, but it was closed for some reason. Instead we went a few blocks away to another Vietnamese place called Vietnam Restaurant (great name, eh?).
Since it was my first time eating vietnamese I didn’t know what to order. I asked the waiter and my friends and ended up ordering a rice noodle soup with chicken.
The basic soup was very delicious and slightly sweet. It had rice noodles, chicken, cilantro, onions, spring onions, and broth. And probably a few more things I wasn’t even aware of in it.
The plate on the table to share included mix ins like cilantro, basil, jalapenos, and raw bean sprouts (that cook in the soup).
I show a little bit of everything on the plate for my soup and also added in about three tablespoons of chili garlic sauce to spice it up.
It ended up being delicious.
The best part was that I ate a good amount and left satisfied… and brought home about half my bowl of soup. The portions were definitely large (and I only got the “large” size instead of the “x-large” size they offered). I’m excited to eat the rest for dinner.
I love finding even more types of food that I love. Apparently I like almost every type of cuisine!
