Mixed Weekend

August 23, 2009 by Mary

This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my disclosure for details.

There has been an interesting mix of good and bad this weekend to say the least.

I’d call it a good one though. :)

New Clothes

The awesome Bethany from Twitter (follow her here) sent me a box of her clothes now that she can’t wear them anymore.  I am now in possession of some awesome cute clothes.  She sent me a dress, a skirt, some pants (most too small but I’ll get there eventually), and some super cute shirts.  I can wear pretty much all the shirts and I’m happy to have them.  I’m usually a thrift store shopper anyway, so  having custom sized clothes sent in my style (we so have the same style) is awesome!  I liked everything she sent and feel super cute in all of it.  This is one of the best and most unexpected gifts ever.  I love new clothes!!  Thank you B!!!

Unidentified Pain

On Saturday I woke up with pain in my lower right back/side.  My mom tried to convince me it was a kidney stone and I have that on my list of what it might be, but I’m not so sure.  When I first woke up with pain yesterday I was scared it was my appendix, but since the pain hasn’t gotten worse and it is intermittent I’ve kind of ruled that out.  So I still have dull pain with sharp pain mixed in every so often.  I’m not sure what is up, but I’m not headed to the doctor quite yet.  Since I don’t have insurance I always have the inner debate on whether or not I should visit a doctor.  I hate that I have to make a choice, especially when I am in pain and don’t really know why.  If it ever gets much worse I will bite the bullet and head to the doctor.  Since I don’t have insurance or a ton of extra money lying around, I don’t like to waste money paying for the full amount of a doctor’s visit if it can be avoided.  So far the unknown pain is manageable, if I’m doing nothing, so I’m going to wait a bit.  And actually, this afternoon it is feeling much, better.  We shall see if that lasts.

Failed Tweetup

So far the worst part of this dumb pain if the fact that this morning the tweetup workout I wanted to happen happened without me!  FAIL! I got dressed and ready and almost all the way to the gym before the pain started up and got bad.  I thought it had magically gone away overnight but it tricked me.  So I bailed on the workout to go lay down.  Lame but it was probably the smart thing to do.  I sound like I have tourettes or something – curse words pop out when a sharp pain surprises me – so I doubt that would be appreciated in public.  I’ll have to reschedule/pester JackSh*t and Cammy until I meet/see them both before I leave for Vermont.  I’ve got two weeks left so it will happen!

Support The Blog

I added a page to the top row for those of you wanting to support my blog.  I’m flattered that anyone even asked or would want to help me out.  Seriously?  I love you guys just for reading and sometimes handing out validation through words.  I’m not asking for anything, but I’m not going to say no if you do want to support me and my blogging endeavors.  Also, I think it’s nice to have disclosure on affiliate things like Amazon.  If you ever see a link to a product on Amazon.com when you follow that link and purchase something I will get a very small cut.  Very small.  Like pennies.  But still, I get a little bit of money.  So you can check that support page out if you feel so inclined.

Hope all you have had a great weekend.  :)

    We all know what happened: you got to the gym and you were intimidated by the intensity of my workout. Look, Mary… that happens all the time. Even big steroid-popping muscle-heads sometimes stop and watch in awe at the way I man-handle the equipment. Don’t feel bad…

    Seriously, hope you feel better. It’s too pretty a day to be hurting or sitting in a doctor’s office….

    Cool on the new clothes & not so on the pain! I understand your insurance dilemma so I will not go there as it just upsets me & the state of healthcare & cost in this country if you don’t work for a big company & even then, it is craziness.. OK, enough!

    I sure hope you feel better!!!!! Be careful!

    You’ll know soon enough if it’s your appendix… I hope it’s not! Feel better soon!

    Yay on the clothes! I also got a big bag full of fat clothes from a friend who’d lost weight a while back and am just about to start fitting into some of the items…

    That’s so cool about the clothes! Funness.

    You just need to move to Canada for our health care, it’s that simple ;) But seriously, take care of yourself, okay? If you know of anyone in the medical profession take advantage of their free input!

    Pain sucks. Sorry to hear it. I recently had pain my under my rib cage for 6 weeks. It got so bad I went to ER (fearing I had cancer and would die in a week – why do I go to extremes??) After cat scan blah, blah, blah, it’s a hiatal hernia. Bummer.

    No insurance sucks, but don’t let the pain persist for a really long time without a diagnosis. We need Mary to stay healthy!

    Oh no! I had gallbladder issues, I hope it’s a kidney stone and not a gallbladder problem, surgery sucks! That’s exciting that you got new clothes! How fun!

    @Jack
    Totally. You are right, you just intimidated me so much I chickened out.

    @Sagan
    That’s it! I’m moving to Canada! I’ll be super close when I’m in Vermont. I’ll just come over and stay. :)

    What side is the pain on?…possibilities are ovarian torsion, appendicitis, colitis, pyelonephritis, kidney stone, ectopic pregnancy, mesenteric adenitis…to name a few. I would suggest you get it checked out. ((That’s easy for me to say, because I don’t have to pay(well taxes, of course) to see a doctor – Yay Canada!))
    That’s what I (an ER nurse) and my bf (an ER doc) have to say about that one!

    What a nice gift you received!! :) I always love “new” clothes too! Enjoy them!!

    Hope you’re feeling better too… I would hate to have to weigh the pros/cons to see if going to the dr. was worth it or not, but I do understand where you’re coming from… try to take it easy!

    Nice on the new clothes, I need to get new work clothes as I don’t fit into any of mine, so frustrating.
