Now that I’m in the third trimester and 8th month of pregnancy, we are finally getting around to working on the nursery for the baby!
I’m happy to say we have a dresser, a crib, and a mountains mural!
I love, love, LOVE it.
The mountains mural turned out even better than expected. We filmed a timelapse of my father-in-law painting it and I love everything about how it came out. (Major shoutout to him for doing it so I didn’t have to!)
I decided I wanted a mural of mountains early on when thinking about the nursery. I knew in the beginning I’d spend the most time in the room so I wanted it to be something I loved and knew I’d share with my child eventually.
I’ve always felt an intense love of mountains. I cried the first time I moved to Memphis because it was just so…. flat. Every time I’ve left Tennessee I’ve moved towards areas with mountains. I plan most of my vacations to places with mountains and my most spiritual moments in life have been at the top of a mountain. I eventually want to own a little tiny home in the mountains. Until that day comes, I’ve got this mural.
Plus the shapes are simple and the colors are soothing so it should be ideal for the little one to look up at! I already love going in the room and staring at it so I’m sure she will too!
I’m planning to continue decorating some with cloud shelves and maybe a few other items. I’ll probably frame some of my favorite pictures and postcards from mountainous places I’ve visited or lived in before. One part nursery, one part reminder of past and future adventures.
All in all the nursery is starting to come together! We’ve got a few of the big things covered and after baby showers coming up I think we will be all set. I’ve felt very unprepared until the last week or two so making some progress feels great!
Let’s just hope baby doesn’t make an early appearance because I’m still going to need a few weeks to finish out this room! :)
