While this post might seem out of left field on my blog…. years and years ago, I carried a knife with me everywhere.
One of my brothers was briefly into knives and he gave me a bright neon knife that he wasn’t planning on using anymore. It was pretty small and I liked how it felt in my hand so I kept it. I’d bring it out to play with every once in a while. I tucked it away in a purse and carried it in my backpack at times, but I always had it. I pulled it out for random tasks now and again and found it came in rather handy at times.
I carried that knife for years until I found myself at airport security with a knife I couldn’t take on the plane and couldn’t hand off to anyone. The knife and I parted ways that day due to my forgetfulness.
Fast forward years later and I’ve got a new knife.
Like my last trusty knife, this one was gifted to me as well.
It’s a Benchmade Mini Griptilian Knife and I LOVE IT.
I feel extremely comfortable carrying a knife again and I’ve already remembered how convenient it is to carry a good knife.
I tried a few different options but most them felt too bulky to handle or I didn’t like the blade.
This one was my favorite for the smaller size – it’s the perfect size for smaller hands. The small size of the knife makes it perfect for carrying either in your pocket or discreetly in your purse. The blade is long enough to make it useful for everyday uses in life. I’ve used it to for varying tasks from opening packages to even slicing food in a pinch.
The knife is very easy to open with your thumb while holding the knife in one hand. I don’t like assisted open knives that open quickly so having a knife I can handle and control easily makes me happy.
The Benchmade logo even has a butterfly in it so the knife blade makes happy when I see it!
So far I even loaned out my knife to open a door. The gentleman in need asked for a nail file first which I’ve never once carried, so he seemed quite surprised when I pulled a knife out of my Betsy Johnson purse with a huge bow. He was quite happy to get a knife to help. Knives come in handy for a number of occasions!
Overall I’m really loving having a knife again and this knife in particular!
Do you carry a knife or would you?
I’ve carried a small Swiss Army Knife I got in Switzerland for the last 16 years. It’s small but has a knife, screwdriver, pen, scissors, and nail file on it. I love it so much!
Oh cool! I actually have a mini Swiss Army Knife on my keychain too that has served me well in a pinch. Having a really useful multitool is awesome.
