You guys, I chopped off my hair!!
Well, I chopped off over 10 inches of it. You can see it in the video post cut and style… I love how it turned out!
Seriously, I love it right now. I was feeling super weighed down by my long hair that was damaged at the ends. I’d gone way too long without a cut and with the baby here all I ever did was put it up in a messy bun. Not the best look.
So my awesome stylist cut off a huge chunk and I feel so much lighter! It’s the shortest my hair has been in a while but it’s still growing like crazy even post baby so I didn’t feel too bad cutting it off.
My haircut (and brow wax) was my little reward for making it to our next mini emergency fund goal: $7,500 or 3/4 of the way to our goal! I’m also in a wedding coming up soon and wanted to look my best so the timing could not have been more perfect!
I like setting little rewards for saving money so it doesn’t feel like I can never do anything fun – I just have to hit savings goals first.
I’m planning to set up our next reward for hitting the $10,000 goal. That reward? A little vacation! We want to take a long weekend trip, possibly to the beach, and I’m hoping that can be our emergency fund goal once it’s fully funded.
That’s my desired reward at least but since that’s likely a couple months away it may change to a different reward for a similar price amount. After all, we have several house projects that have been on hold while we focused on building our emergency fund! Either way knowing I can finally fund something I’ve been putting off is a great way to motivate me to put away as much as possible instead of aimlessly shopping and spending money.
Funding that amount was one of my main goals for the year so I’m happy that it’s coming along! I’ve been dumping the majority of my blogging and YouTube profits into savings which has helped speed up the process beyond what it would be otherwise. We’ve had a lot of unexpected expenses with the baby so funneling my extra income towards savings means our progress hasn’t slowed down too much.
You can see our progress this year so far with past updates:
I can’t wait to update with a finished goal! It’s going to feel great to have that financial cushion now that we have added responsibilities like the baby and the house. Peace of mind is something I strongly value these days and having a fully funded emergency fund is a huge part of that!
