The nursery is really coming along these days and soon I’ll be able to share a full nursery tour. The first fully finished area is the nursery dresser / changing table so today I’m sharing how we’ve currently set up everything.
Today’s nursery dresser “tour” shows how the dresser organization I’m currently using for our soon to arrive newborn! I always love seeing how other people organize their nursery dresser so I wanted to show off mine as well.
I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on this part of the nursery so we saved money by:
– using a dresser top as the changing table instead of buying something separate
– buying the dresser on sale with an extra percentage off (Ikea has sales!)
– using Ikea’s drawer organizers along with containers from gift sets we received
Luckily we were blessed by the items inside the dresser since we had several amazing baby showers.
Of course, this is the dresser organized before the baby arrives so it definitely could change! I’m already planning to have more things on top like wipes and diapers instead of toys and blankets. Once I get a cute storage option for the sweet baby blankets those will be moving and the piggy bank definitely will get her own location. Practical items are going to be within reach once baby is actually here, but for photos and video…. cute stuff all the way!
The first two drawers are all about those essentials: diapers, wipes, creams, medicines, burp cloths, bibs. Even this set up is very subject to change. I’ve got newborn diapers ready to go but if lil girl keeps growing we might skip the newborn phase altogether.
On the other side we have more cute stuff! Tons of onesies, pants, socks, bows, headbands. Little girl clothing is just so adorable!
I’ve got 6 months and up clothes stored in another drawer. It seems so far away before she will be wearing these clothes but I’ve heard she will fly through the early sizes.
I’ve got a full drawer full of swaddle blankets, swaddle wraps, receiving blankets, halo sleep sacks, and crib sheets. Can you have too much sleep gear?
On the bottom of the dresser I’ve got my breastfeeding stuff like the pump and cleaning supplies. It’s also a bit of the junk drawer with all the “extra” things like diaper genie refills, our moby wrap and more!
And finally: toys! It’s not a full drawer but we’ve already got a lot of toys and teethers and books and lovies.
Having the dresser mostly ready and organized is making me feel much more ready for her impending arrival. I’m sure this dresser will go through many different variations and re-organizations as we move through the baby and toddler stages but it’s nice to start off with a clean and organized feeling!
