Peanut Butter and Banana Smoothie

December 9, 2008 by Mary

My awesome personal blender has been getting a lot of use lately. One might say my blender has become a good and trusted friend.

I have been making smoothies at night to drink for breakfast in the morning. It’s an easy way to get in lots of nutrients and have something ready to drink immediately in the morning when I’m ready for breakfast.

smoothie options

I have mainly been making strawberry and banana smoothies but occasionally I will try something different. I’ve tried smoothies with lots of different ingredients including spinach and kale for healthy green smoothies. I’ve even made pink smoothies!

Since I ran out of strawberries I decided to make a new smoothie for breakfast! I had bananas on hand still since I use them for smoothies often so I paired it with one of my other favorite ingredients: peanut butter.

(Seriously, banana and peanut butter belong together in so many ways.)

Peanut Butter and Banana Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 banana
  • 2 tbsp of natural peanut butter
  • 1 cup of skim milk
  • 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • several ice cubes
  • optional: chia seeds

Directions:

  • Chop banana into chunks.
  • Blend all ingredients together in a blender.
  • Run blender for about two minutes until a creamy texture is achieved.

Yummy!

This smoothie is so freaking easy to make but it is packed with protein! If you have trouble getting in enough protein to meet your nutrient requirements for the day then start out with one of these smoothies. It has a ton of protein thanks to the peanut butter, milk, and protein powder.

Plus, it tastes great!

If you’d like to cut some calories you can also make this smoothie with water instead of with milk. It’s an easy way to cut out a few calories but it will still taste great thanks to the other ingredients. I’ve tried it both ways and there is really no bad way to make it.

Like I said before, banana and peanut butter just go together.

Cammy: I like it! I tried it and I am going to add it to my smoothie lineup. PB powder with plain yogurt sounds like a good idea too. I am going to have to branch out and try some new protein flavors.
