I’ve had an eventful couple of days with injuries.
This weekend I was trying to move a massive wood king size bed by myself … and it didn’t end well. I didn’t know the bed would come apart when I pulled on it, but apparently it does. I pulled, it came apart, and I fell backwards. I twisted my ankle nicely and bruised my tailbone with my landing. Ouchies!
But surprisingly that isn’t what is bothering me most right now.
What is really bothering me is the painful, soon-to-be calluses on my hands from weightlifting.
It’s hard to tell in this photo, but can you see it? Under my ring finger on both hands I have blisters, more or less, and they are pretty painful. Apparently lifting bars and pulling things rubs my hands in an unpleasant way.
I really don’t want calluses on my hands. It’s not something I thought about until now. I guess lifting progressively heavier weights and adding new exercises on different equipment has increased the pressure and is starting to hurt and form calluses.
How would you lovely people suggest I prevent this? Wear weightlifting gloves? I would probably feel super awkward at first but if that would prevent this from happening then maybe I will go for it. Do something else? I have no idea but I’m open to suggestions and help. Thanks!
