Rainy Days and Eating?

August 16, 2016 by Lois

Today it is raining, some times so hard you can’t see out your window, but the worst part of a really rainy day is the trapped feeling you get.  When you have done the laundry and cleaned the house and watched television until you are so sick of it, then you are faced with the eating.  Have you ever just had to get in your car and go somewhere to keep from eating, I have and it is a real waste of gas and time, not to mention the money you spend just to keep from eating.

Rain, especially hard heavy rain, is just conducive to sitting around and munching on something. We all have a tendency to want to eat when we have nothing better to do, so for now I am controlling mine with writing this post.  I could blow my weeks calorie count with just one day like this and I am not hungry and I feel so disgusted with myself when I eat like that, because so many people do not even have a meal once a day.  Most of us in this country are blessed beyond measure, we no doubt have never really had a day when we were actually hungry.  Try to think about that when you head for the refrigerator to get food, when you just ate less than an hour ago. We throw away more food in a day, than some families eat in a week! We are blessed with abundance!

We are all guilty of not thinking how blessed we are and how so many are not, we were fortunate to be born in the best country in the world, Americans are the greatest people and the most giving people, but we all could do more to help others, so the next time you need a break from eating, go volunteer at a soup kitchen, or stop by your local down town and find a homeless person and buy them a dinner.
