Retirement! What to do now?

Most people like the thought of retirement, taking long trips and just taking it easy.  The realization is that when we retire, if we retire, it does not always mean a life of luxury but one of what do I do now?

I retired two years ago and for the most part it has been relaxing, no more getting up at 4:00am every morning, that in itself is a great benefit, but I do miss the people I use to hang with.  My buddies in crime, we would walk at break and we had lunch together every day, and we could carry on a conversation across the room while we were working.  I miss my carpool friend but not the long drive, I even miss the work because I dealt with a wide variety of people, now if I see anyone all day, except my husband, I am fortunate.

Well it is not the flamboyant life of a world traveler, but it is mine and I will deal the best I can with it.  My husband has a car he likes to take to shows, so when we get a trailer for it we may start traveling to car shows in other states, but for now I will work on my blog, work in my church and enjoy the life God has given me.  I am substitute teaching the ladies Sunday School class this week and I am so blessed to do it for my friend Betty.

I guess the point of this post is to say, as the Bible teaches us, to be content in what ever season of life you are in.  Life is broken into seasons, spring you are born and everything is new and life is an exciting adventure, summer is the time we grow into an adult and raise our family, fall is when we see our children are grown and out of the house and we contemplate what is next, the winter comes and you retire, spend your time until the day your time comes to an end.  So my friends, enjoy your life and remember it is like a blink and it is over so love God, love your fellow-man, and make your life count.
