Running Desire

April 1, 2013 by Mary

I’ve had a nagging in the back of my mind for a while.

That nagging feeling? I want to run.

I’ve been thinking about it a lot. I want to start running again. Nothing crazy, just start C25K again. Work up to a 5k so I can do that and maybe another triathlon. Because you know – those are fun!

There are so many 5ks in Memphis all the time that I want to participate! I want to go run with friends and collect t-shirts and all of that.

So that’s what I’m doing today. After work JuJu and I are going to put a bit of running into our walk. I’ll come back later and let you know how it goes! ;)

Update:

workout

Did it!

One of us enjoyed it way more than the other.

Actually, I really enjoyed it. Not the part where I’m heavy, out-of-shape and slow. But the part where I did it all and finished and felt amazing. The part where I enjoyed the jogging part sooo much. Yep. Good times.

Last year when I was going to the gym regularly I started running too, I really enjoyed it. I was up to a mile at a time. Now I’m back at square one and will need to start with baby steps to get my strength and stamina back up to par. Congrats on starting what I’m sure will be a healthy new habit. Just a little bit will do wonders for you, so keep smiling and don’t be afraid to sweat!

There is nothing better for your motivation than a strong desire. Run if you feel like running, live if you feel like living!

I hope I could also step up into this. I am always walking 1km after office and haven’t tried running. I hope I could do it very soon. Thanks for your post, it inspires me! I have to pursue it :)

I hope you know how awesome your face is in that pic! PRICELESS! And I’ll leave all of the enjoying running thing to you — I’m not a runner. I may jog once in a blue moon, but it is NOT because I WANT to.

I have two more workouts (Thursday and Saturday) until I finish the C25K program. I’m loving it! I did not think I could run. I started at almost 300 pounds (with a 46DDD). I barely made it through my first 60 second runs, and I thought I was going to die on the 5 minute runs. But yesterday, when I was supposed to run 25 minutes (2.75 miles), I ran for 40 minutes (2.25 miles). As you can see, I don’t run fast, but I run!

I gave up running over the winter months. I just don’t like the cold, it makes me lazy.

As Spring is slowly coming round I’m also getting that nagging voice in the back of mind “I want to run”. I love the freedom it brings. I better dust off my trainers.

Haha! good job. that was awesome. I’ve never really liked running for long distances but maybe I should give it a try. You never know I might like it. Thanks for the inspiration.
