My dinner tonight was an experiment in letting myself eat whatever I wanted – within reason.
- I wanted some of the bacon my boyfriend cooked… so I put one slice on my turkey burger sans bun.
- I wanted some cheese… so I put a sprinkle of shredded romano cheese on my broccoli.
- I wanted some chocolate… so I had a couple chocolate covered macadamia nuts with my strawberries.
These little additions to the the meal made it feel both delightful and indulgent. The small indulgences in rich foods made me happy and made the meal feel special even though it was just leftovers on a Wednesday night.
It’s the small things people.
After realizing I’m still the before in many ways, I’ve been trying to clean up my eating. I’d say I’m aiming for how I ate during the AdvoCare challenge, but a little less strict with a few indulgences like those in my dinner tonight. I’m trying to eat rather healthy and try to save enough room in my day to let a few higher calorie items sneak in like these.
I suppose you might call it… moderation.
Part of me wants to go the strict route and cut out all sugar and carbs and just be incredibly regimented with food. {Restrict! Diet! Cut it out!}
But as someone with a history of binge eating, I try not to be so restrictive that I fall into a crazy restrict and binge cycle. Allowing myself these small things helps with that aspect (at least that is the goal). Healthy without being crazy.
Next up is fitness, now that my hand has healed after the dog bite incident.
Small indulgences and small steps. :)
Do you give yourself small indulgences? Or is your path a strict one?
I LOVE THIS.
it is so so so what we are trying to encourage with #wycwyc too.
Yay! I’m glad y’all are still sharing the wycwyc idea… It’s smart!
Love this idea. That’s still an extremely healthy dinner. Bacon and chocolate in moderation…..kudos.
