Snow Day, Snowed In

March 5, 2015 by Mary

I woke up this morning to yet another-work-from-home-don’t-leave-the-house it’s a snow day! Another snow day this year. Actually, it’s a legit snow day since this time it was snow instead of ice.

front of house

Ta da! Winter Storm Thor delivered!

I admit, I was incredibly bummed to look out my front door and see this when I woke up. 4 to 5 inches of sleet and snow accumulation covering everything is not my idea of fun unless I have a snowboard nearby.

Speaking of that, can I go ahead and schedule a snowboarding trip? I miss it so much.

The snow was a disappointment today because it ended up keeping me home all day. I had hoped it wouldn’t be too bad so I could go out and deliver Advocare 24 Day Challenge packs to everyone doing the challenge with me. I also wanted to grocery shop because I’m running very low on food at the moment.

Instead of gearing up to start the challenge tomorrow, I ended up stuck at home all day. I spent 30 minutes trying to clear my driveway and car off so I could leave when the roads looked halfway decent in the afternoon. That was an exercise in frustration as I achieved nothing and my car still couldn’t get out of my driveway (it’s to the right in the picture below but rather steep). I watched my neighbor struggle to get out of his driveway and then get stuck when he backed onto ice and his tires had no traction. If it took 5 people to push his car off the ice I figure staying home was a safe decision.

Staying home did give me some extra hours to get organized and clean my house. At least something was achieved on this awesome day being snowed in! I know I’m lucky with power and heat and many aren’t as lucky right now. Hopefully you’re safe and warm right now dear readers!
