After what seems like weeks of rain and cold, spring has sprung! The official start of the season was dreary but the weather right now on this patio is fan-freaking-tastic. The rain and cooler temps will be back but for right now I’m soaking up the new season’s goodness!
I love, love, love spring! It’s the best season of them all. It’s when new things begin, progress is made, and pretty things start to bloom. It’s a season of renewal and freshness. It’s the season of my birthday and of Easter. I can’t help but feel overly joyed when spring comes around.
With the advent of spring I’m finding it’s time for an annual spring cleaning and a time to make lots of changes. I’m doing my own spring cleaning and changes and I’ve also collected some spring cleaning resources for anyone else who needs to do the same!
Closet Spring Cleaning
Perhaps it’s the weight I’m losing with the AdvoCare 24 Day Challenge, but a lot of my clothes aren’t fitting correctly any longer. While going through what fits and what doesn’t I noticed several larger sized items were getting pretty threadbare from being worn constantly all winter. Those are now in the trash/Goodwill bags where they belong.
A few new items have been purchased including the light pink cardigan seen in the photo above. I’m also moving out the winter clothes to the bins and storage closets. It’s nice to be switching out the clothes for a more springy/summer wardrobe because I much prefer dresses to coats!
Blog Spring Cleaning
I’ve also decided spring is a great time for a new face on the blog. I’ve implemented a new theme that’s fresh and feminine:
It matches how I’m feeling these days while wearing light cardigans and pretty dresses in the spring weather! It’s also cleaner which is something I’m trying to work on. Clean, minimalistic living without a ton of fuss. Clutter makes me anxious so I’m keeping low on the clutter.
I’m playing around with homepage features so people will see different things when they land on the home page, like this section of thumbnails for recipes or AdvoCare 24 Day Challenge posts.
Excuse the dust and changes over the next few days. I’ve got a bit of work to do still on making it all functional and I’ve already completely brought down the blog once with my stellar coding skills. Old posts need a bit of tweaking with images and updates, so I’ll be working on the archives of the blog too. Hopefully this makes it more functional and easier to go through older posts in case anyone wants to do so!
More Spring Cleaning
Other things on the agenda for a major cleaning and overhaul this week: my house and car!
My car needs spring cleaning because it tends to gather all the things during winter because I’d rather leave stuff in the car than get out and throw it away. I also hate cleaning my car during winter because of the weather. So once spring rolls around my car will get a deep clean both inside and out.
My house also needs a big spring cleaning! I’ve started working on this one but the list of items to accomplish is pretty long! I’m working room by room right now and for once am thankful that I don’t have that many rooms! I’m setting aside about a week or so to accomplish this one since it involves so many tasks. I’ll probably also get help on it!
Need to do your own spring cleaning?
If you’re in the mood to clean up everything for spring, I’ve pulled together some handy resources for you.
- Martha Stewart published this free spring cleaning checklist that you can download and work through.
- Right At home also has room by room spring cleaning checklists. These are great if you want to be more detailed.
- While looking for checklists to spring clean my own house, I came across the site Spring Cleaning 365. It’s a pretty cool website and concept to do one task each day all year in order to clean everything. Breaking it down task by task definitely makes it less overwhelming!
- Related, another useful but cheeky decluttering/organization website is Unfuck Your Habitat. I follow their tumblr and love the posts that remind me to clean up everything each night or get my stuff together for the week.
Those are a few of the tools I like and am using for spring cleaning! It’s definitely worth clearing out your house and decluttering during spring. It will help clear your mind and get you ready to achieve some great things!
Eating the right foods makes weight loss so much easier, as long as your diet consists of whole foods, the majority of people won’t over eat and will likely lose a good amount of weight.
Eating healthy coupled with a short cardio sessions a couple of times a week really makes a huge difference to the weight loss.
