Oh hey! Today’s been a pretty good day!
Successes
NSVs (non scale victories) have been happening:
- Yesterday I counted calories and stayed in the right range AND ate lots of veggies.
- No emotional/stress eating yesterday or today.
- Today I was recognized by my boss at work because, frankly, I’m awesome. Sometimes I feel surprised by this idea but I actually am a hard worker and very good at what I do.
- Tonight I scheduled some time for myself to both exercise and read some more of my current book choice: Overcoming Overeating.
And this totally isn’t a personal victory or anything, but some of my favorite people in the world just got engaged! I’m so happy for them that it has made me generally just very happy today. :)
Solutions
Yesterday I admitted the problem I’ve been having. Not exercising = not taking care of myself = feeling worse physically and mentally.
After that blog post I blocked off some time to workout when I got home. 30 minutes or so was spent kickboxing and lifting light weights borrowed from the roommate. As I thought, it made me feel much better today. The exercise I’ve done tonight has just boosted that.
The exercise and mental health connection for me is HUGE.
I like exercise, it is fun for me, and it makes me feel better. I’m super crunched for time right now (which is one thing causing me stress) but I’m going to try harder to make time to exercise.sweat.shower, the combination that I really need!
So all in all things are good!
The mental health aspect of working out is the biggest factor for me too. I am a raging B if I don’t work out…I get stressed out more easily, feel frustrated, have too much pent-up energy… It sucks all around. Glad to hear you’re back on the ol’ wagon! =)
Exercise helps me feel more balanced as well, but its tough because a huge part of me wants to work out at night, once the day is done, but I can’t because I get so hyped up following a workout I can’t sleep for hours. I just don;t like working out during the day at all, and that ends up being my excuse not to more often than not. I need to get over it and just do it.
I feel like when I exercise other healthy habits (sleep, eating) fall better into place for me.
Working out helps me manage my stress, maintain a sense of self-esteem, sleep better, eat better etc. When I am going through stressful periods, I just have to work harder to remind myself not to get too far off track or I will pay the price emotionally AND physically!
yeah, the main reason i exercise 5 days a week is because if i dont, i start feeling bad. in my head. not like oh i’m bad i didnt exercise, just maybe like endophin withdrawal. and exercise is my stress release. Congrats on all of the above. :)
It all works together Mary – so glad you are finding all that works for you! YAHOO for that work pat on the back!!!!!
I think regular exercise can improve your stamina, physical fitness, flexibility, mental state and help you achieve numerous other benefits.. I really also think People should care more for what they eat. If unable to and just want to eat whatever you want but don’t want to get overweight, check this vimeopro.com/rocalabs/reviews, just want to share that site I came across.
That’s a good point Michelle. I checked your link and wants to know more about the product. Where can I find it? It’s interesting to know that it’s safe for pregnant woman and children..
