“Btw, you’re not fat, you’re obese.”
When I first read this comment, I thought “Wow, worst comment ever. From someone I don’t even know. I mean, it might be true, but does saying this in a mean way make a person feel better about themselves?”
The comment hurt because it was true, but also because it was surrounded by other harsh word and was meant to hurt me. Unfortunately the anonymity of the internet makes people feel like they can say whatever they want to other people online.
Like many people, I really struggle with what other people think of me and hearing something like this, said in a mean way, was hard. It made me reevaluate how I interpret comments and how I handle the ones that hurt.
