Happy Saturday! It’s been a fantastic week for me. I’ve got a lot to be thankful for and I’m enjoying blogging again. It’s been fun to create posts like Healthy Thanksgiving Dessert Ideas and 40+ Healthy Stocking Stuffer Gift Ideas.
It’s also been really fun to blog about challenging myself to get more steps by wearing my Polar Loop Activity Tracker and hitting 13,000 steps daily.
I’m doing it because I need to move more in my daily life and because I know the small steps add up to something bigger. We all want to be healthy and live longer lives and doing small challenges like this can help make it happen. You still have to work at it because wearing isn’t going to make you healthy on it’s own, but it does help you stay aware of what you have done each day.
So let’s see what I’ve done the last few days according to my Polar Loop!
Thanksgiving Steps
Steps for the day:
- 12,901
Activity for the day:
- walk/run with JuJu around neighborhood
- walking around Bass Pro with brothers
- walking around the mall out of curiosity
- helping cook and get ready for Thanksgiving
Thoughts on the day:
I was super worried about this day because I knew a lot of the day would be spent sitting. We sat for lunch and dinner and chatting in between. I got three inactivity alerts while we were at the movie theater watching the new Hunger Games movie!
Because I knew we would be sitting a lot I started the morning with a walk/run. It wasn’t super long but I ran half a mile easily and enjoyed it then walked a while longer with JuJu. That started my day off well and I made the rest of the steps up when I went “shopping” with my brothers. I didn’t buy anything but they wanted to go and I was interested to see that so many stores were open on Thanksgiving. It was an easy way to get steps in!
I didn’t quite hit the 13,000 mark, but we can round up, right?
Black Friday Steps
Steps for the day:
- 16,767
Activity for the day:
- 40 minute elliptical workout
- 45 minutes walking with JuJu at dog park
- walking around Target
Thoughts on the day:
This was my best steps count day so far! I had 13,000 steps by 4 pm and I was feeling so good about that. Some nights I’ve had to get my 13,000 in the last hour but this day was active enough that I didn’t even think about it.
My original plan was just to do an elliptical workout. I felt GREAT after that and left the gym feeling accomplished and happy. Then the suggestion to go to the dog park came up and it sounded fun too. It was a great day for lots of activity so I worked off some of those extra calories from a delicious Thanksgiving meal the day before.
I’m hoping this weekend follows suit and my streak continues. I’m already wearing my Polar Loop and ready to go to the gym after this post!
Go get your activity in too, whether you wear a fitness tracker or not!
All we want this holiday season is energy and a strong, fit body. Thank you for this wonderful and very helpful tips to stay motivated and active from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day.
