My weekend was filled with less than pleasant activities.
When I woke up Saturday morning vomiting I knew things were bad. It takes a lot to make me throw up – I can’t do it on purpose, I won’t do it over yucky food, and it pretty much only happens when I’m terribly sick.
I was definitely terribly sick over the weekend.
A new strain of the stomach flu is going around the country and I must have caught it. I wasn’t sure at first if it was food poisoning or the stomach flu, but I’m pretty sure it was the latter since every symptom matched up.
It only lasted a day and a half so I’m now at home recovering. Since the worst symptoms stopped I’ve been eating the diet of champions – saltines and plain white toast.
I took the day off work to rest as this bugger left me completely dehydrated to the point where I felt like fainting when I stood up. It’s a doozy.
I’m progressing to more substantial but still bland food today. Exciting stuff. Funny thing is, when I had to start eating again after being sick I realized I had NONE of the approved foods. Toast, saltines, rice, bananas, applesauce, pasta… none of it. I don’t do bland and boring in my normal life obviously.
I’m hoping by tomorrow I’m feeling 100% as I plan to go back to work. 1.5 days of sickness, 1.5 days of recovery, 3 days total lost to the stomach flu. It could have been worse. Let’s hope we don’t catch any more flus, yes?
