Happy weekend, dear blog friends!
Today on YouTube I shared a weekend day in the life vlog, where we watched football, I did yoga, and we visited a family member.
One reason I wanted to share this little snippet of our life is because we visited Jason’s great aunt in Mississippi for a meal. We loved taking Penny to visit her and sharing a meal together to talk about life and her experience during World War II. It is always wonderful to hear about her life experiences and how she’s lived a long and wonderful life.
Obviously this video didn’t cover everything in the day… there were way more bottle feedings, lots of diapers changed, and we ate other meals. But the essence of the day – spending time with Penny, spending time with family, being active – is what we love to do every weekend and strive to fill our days with each weekend.
This is a pretty typical representation of how we spend our weekends, though usually with a friend outing at night as well. Right now most of our friends and family is also in the season of having young kids and babies so our “nights out with friends” are very tame events where we visit each other’s houses or go for walks together at the park.
Life is simple and sweet right now while I work on some major things in my mind and heart. The ups and downs of beginning a true healing journey are overwhelming. Keeping the people I love close and living a simple life for a season is so important to me.
I’m reminding myself that rest and relaxation are necessary and important, so I’m refraining from packing every weekend full of events like I have in the past. My mind always wants to go!go!go! but I’m training myself to have days that aren’t over-scheduled, that have space for simple moments together.
Hope you have found your own moments of rest this weekend!
