Happy Saturday! I’m in the mood for a rambling catch-up on everything style post so today I’m sharing anything that comes to mind!
Zumba
I managed to make it to a Saturday morning Zumba class this morning!
Lately I haven’t been on my Saturday workout game. Instead I’ve had brunches and meetups and work and all sorts of other things. So today I made sure I got to go to a 10 am Zumba class. I put on my brightest clothes and headed to the studio at my gym.
I’m so glad I did it! Zumba was incredibly fun and it got my endorphins going. I left class sweaty but with a smile on my face.
Injuries
Despite going to Zumba today, I’m also dealing with an injury of sorts.
A few weeks ago I was walking Juju at the dog park with my brother and I twisted my ankle when I stepped in a hole. I didn’t see the dip at all because it was covered with grass so my ankle twisted under me. I’ve been dealing with soreness since then and at my last volleyball game I had trouble and twisted it again.
I am supposed to be doing rest, ice, compression, elevation right now for it… but I really wanted to go to Zumba. I went, it made me incredibly happy, and now I’m back to babying the ankle.
Anxiety
Some really crazy stuff has happened in my personal and family life this week, stuff that normally would send me into anxiety overload. Instead I’ve been able to handle my emotions and deal with the situation logically.
I still stand behind the fact that taking magnesium supplements is the best thing I ever did for anxiety. Sure the exercise and healthy eating helps, but getting more magnesium into my system has had the same effect as medication. If not better, honestly, because I haven’t experienced any negative side effects yet.
It feels really, really good to feel normal!
Business
I don’t talk much about my life outside of food and fitness anymore these days beyond the occasional weekend fun posts. However, I feel like mentioning my little business because things are going so well these days!
If you weren’t aware, I run a Memphis wedding blog with one of my best friends from high school. (You know her, she’s been on the blog before!)
A while back I traded services with a career coach who helped me figure out all the things I valued from work in order to find the right job fit. We discovered those things and Mid-South Bride fit all of them: community, creativity, joy, independence, hard work.
It’s been a wonderful experience growing a new blog completely unrelated to myself. I love seeing the happiness in weddings and helping small businesses grow their own business. The blog and business around it has been a joy to me.
We are growing a lot and very quickly so it’s an exciting time!
Most of you aren’t Memphians or getting married, but if you ever know anyone who is… send them our way.
Happy Weekend!
That’s all from my life right now. It’s a gorgeous day and there are football games to watch and family to see. Go enjoy the long weekend and have a great time!
A sore ankle at Zumba, that’s terrible. :( But I guess you still had a wonderful class sesh. I really hope it gets better as soon as possible. All is well!! :) Nice kicks btw! :)
Condolences about your ankle and congratulations about your wedding blog! :D That’s amazing!
I would hate to be injured and miss my kickboxing classes! ufcgym.com has amazing kickboxing classes that I love, and I try to go as often as I can! Get well soon! xxx
