Weekly Weigh In: New Beginnings

December 13, 2009 by Mary

This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my disclosure for details.

Almost two weeks ago I had my final assessment at Green Mountain and now it’s time for my first check in at home. I did a sneak peek for my followers on Twitter last week, but decided to wait to post anything else until today. So how did I do?

THE EXERCISE

Sunday 12/13 –

  • 30 minutes walking – 1 mile

Saturday 12/12 –

  • 15 minutes stretching
  • 15 minutes – v-steps, grapevines, high knees

Friday 12/11 –

  • 15 minutes walking: .5 miles

Thursday 12/10 –

  • 75 minutes walking: 3 miles

Wednesday 12/10 –

  • 1 hour walking: 2.5 miles

Tuesday 12/8 –

  • 15 minutes – stretching, abs
  • 30 minutes walking 1 mile
  • 30 minutes – lower body conditioning

Monday 12/7 –

  • 30 minutes stretch, yoga, abs
  • 1 hour walking (2.5 miles)

THE FOOD

I ate pretty well during the weekdays. My meals aren’t perfect but I eat what I want and I eat the amount I want, which turns out to be a good amount of food for me to keep going and lose weight still. I did eat the same thing for lunch almost every day this week. Last Sunday I cooked peppers, onions, and black beans all together and ate it for dinner. I had a ton of it left over, so I ate it every day for lunch on a tortilla with jalapeno peppers, salsa, hot sauce, and sour cream. (Spicy = GOOD.) It might not be a culinary masterpiece, but I think it is delicious and filling for me. So most of my meals ended up being sort of vegetarian quite by accident.

Then on the weekend I had a bit of “bad eating” which resulted in higher numbers on the scale than they were midweek (yeah, okay I weigh in every day to keep tabs). I went out with some friends Friday night and had a few beers, then ate a little too much chocolate after that even though I wasn’t really hungry – just craving chocolate. On Saturday I had Chick Fil A fast food for lunch and pizza for dinner with my family. It’s not that bad, and I enjoyed it. I have eaten pizza about 5 times since I’ve been home. I like pizza and all but it’s not my favorite meal choice and nutritionally it’s not winning any awards. I really don’t remember eating pizza this often before I left but hopefully it will slow down.

THE STATS

And now let’s look at what you all really wanted to know…

I mentioned earlier that I weighed in last Monday and posted it to Twitter. That week that I travelled home I managed to lose 1 pound and drop down to 221.5. But I’m using the “official” weights from my weigh in at Green Mountain for the following, so the weight loss is that of two weeks.

Current Weight: 218.4
Previous Weight: 222.5
Weight loss: -4.1
Starting Weight: 251
Weight loss total: -32.6

Dang. I hit 30 lbs lost. I guess little bits add up over time, yeah? And as long as you aren’t going backwards that is all a good thing.

THE THOUGHTS

I’m pretty excited about this.  I’m back under 220 pounds and this feels a lot more normal for me.  I’ve completely erased all the damage I did living at home after college and I’m back to the weight I was during college.  Yay!   It was honestly a pretty scary time for me when I hit 251 earlier this year.  I had flashbacks to high school when I weighed closer to 260 and was completely miserable.  I never want to go back to being like that.  Or being 251 pounds.  I know I say weight doesn’t matter, but it does some

You’re rolling right along here! I’m so happy for you!

Minor quibble: Please do not mention Chick-fil-A on days when they are closed. I’m really wanting their grilled chicken salad now. :)

I know, sorry. I almost ALWAYS want Chick Fil A on Sundays. In college I did that ALL the time and every time it was a shock to me when they were closed. I always forget and just torture myself on Sundays. So I’m sorry!

Wow! 30 pounds is awesome. My friends and I got pizza yesterday and I convinced them to get a thin crust veggie as a third option of pizza. I was so impressed- the crust is super thin so it has to be low in cal from that- it was delicous! The only thing I felt a little worried about was the cheese. So yummy. Btw- it was dominoes.

Wow congrats on the loss and the 30 pound mark! You’re doing so good! I’m having the worst cravings for pizza. I’ve had some “diet pizza” that I make myself to lower the calories but I’m having terrible cravings for Pizza Hut. I might have to give in next weekend! :-)

Awesome! Also that dinner you made on Sunday sounds really good. That’s my kind of meal. Throwing beans and veggies together and adding lots of spices/herbs is perfect- it can be spread on sandwiches or used in tortillas or topped over rice/pasta or eaten as is… so versatile :)

So proud of you for hitting 30 lbs lost! That is an amazing accomplishment. I think you know my story but I had lost over 80 pounds and struggled a lot and gained back quite a bit. I just saw a picture today that was taken last night and whoa I really need to make more changes and figure out how to deal with all these struggles. You are an inspiration, thanks for sharing your journey. Nice to know we aren’t alone.
