Weigh In: 45 lbs Down

September 26, 2010 by Mary

This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my disclosure for details.

Remember the last few weigh ins where I was close but not “officially” 45 lbs down? Yeah, that’s over.

Hurray!

And I made a video outside in the fresh air after weeks of being sick and stuck inside.

This is the best post ever!

Video

Sorry about the brightness/lightness. I didn’t realize it was going to be like that and after I did I didn’t feel like redoing the video. Maybe one day I’ll get a flip video camera and make cool videos for y’all. ;)

Weigh In

Current Weight: 205.6 lbs
Previous Weight (2 weeks ago): 209.2 lbs
Weight Loss: -3.6 lbs
Weight Loss Total: – 45.4 lbs
Starting Weight: 251

Yeah, last week it was just water retention because I obviously was more at 206. Just goes to show that the scale is not the only thing you can trust. I hope you all remember that!

Seriously though, I was so excited to see 205 on the scale I almost went to get a camera to take a photo. When I don’t see a 2 at the start of the number I’m definitely doing that. I’m so close now – only 5 ish pounds!

Since I’m finally feeling better I can start back at the gym. I can’t believe a whole week passed and I wasn’t able to get a workout in. Being sick can totally derail you from exercising, but I’m ready to get back in the gym.

I’ve also decided to stop doing weekly goals. They might work for other people but they aren’t very helpful for me. I tend to forget about them as soon as I’ve written them down and then the next week when it’s time to check in saying I “failed” just makes me feel bad. So I’m going to skip structured goals and just use my weekend weigh in posts to reflect and celebrate the week that has passed.

This weekend is a celebration! I’m no longer sick! I’m finally at 45 lbs lost! I’m doing so well and excited for what’s next! :)

You are so close to ONEDERLAND now! Yay!!!!

Oh, and I think giving up doing weekly goals is a good idea. I’m not very good with weekly goals either. It seems whenever I set myself a target for the week, I’d be certain NOT to make it and then, instead of bieng pleased by the amount I HAD lost, I’d feel bad about not reaching my target. (Now that I’m at my target weight, I don’t have to aim for any weight loss goals anyway, thank goodness! and if you keep at it, you’ll find yourself at your target weight before you know it too!)

Congrats! That is such a wonderful feeling. You can see the “1” in 2 weeks no problem if you put your mind to it and then you will be on a roll. And yeah for not being sick – I hope the sickies stay away!

Hey girl, you are doing great! Moving to a whole new country, practically on the other side of the world, you are bound to go through “changes” – you are adapting and overcoming! I hope the sickies leave you soon and you can truly enjoy every aspect of your adventure!

You will be in Onederland before you know it!

    Much love, my friend!

Yaay, Mary! You’re knocking on the door of onederland now!

My goals are the same today that they were when I started losing weight (exercise 5-6 days/week, eat 5-7 fruits & veggies daily, etc.)–in other words, the basics. Every now and then I’ll choose something “stretch-y” to do, but for me, the simple and streamlined approach seems to work better. :)

    • Mary says

      September 26, 2010 at 3:55 pm

Yeah. Mostly my goals are the same each week anyway… go to the gym, drink water, try new foods.

Hooray for no longer being sick and for reaching your next mini goal! I know how good that feels! Congrats!
Also, I am glad I am not the only one that weekly goals do not work for at all. That’s why I don’t do them. I just don’t remember them long enough to be successful.

wohoo! ur almost in the 100s!! What size are you now? Or even better, how many sizes have you gone down since you started? One hundred is about 10lbs away for me and I CAN’T WAIT. I’m sure you’re uber excited. You’ll be well in the 100s by christmas time

    • Mary says

      September 27, 2010 at 3:59 pm

Yeah I’m pretty excited about it! Right now I’m a 14/16. It depends on the brand though. I’m thinking a couple more pounds and I’ll be a 14 only which will be nice. ;) That’s four/five sizes down from where I started.

Glad you’re feeling better. I love your videos. You are so adorable. Congrats on getting to 45+ pounds lost. I’m sure you’ll be in ONEDERLAND soon. I’m a member of the super SLOW weight loss group too but have learned to accept that super slow is the way to do it (for me). Congrats!

    • Mary says

      September 27, 2010 at 4:00 pm

Super slow is the way to go!

Can that be our slogan? Haha. Seriously it’s sometimes super frustrating, but this weight isn’t coming back on. It doesn’t matter if I have bad weeks or good weeks or whatever, what I’ve lost is lost for good. And that’s pretty comforting, even if I’m slowly losing the rest of it. :)

  32. Jon says

    September 27, 2010 at 2:51 pm

You are making great progress, I am sure that you will be below 200 within two weeks. Just take you time and keep looking forward. Everyone goes through bad patches, but you got through the sickness well, so well done!

What diet are you following? Are you going mostly low GI or just calorie counting? If just calorie counting, try to increase low GI foods, reduce high Gi and get more lean proteins – all while keeping calories down.

    • Mary says

      September 27, 2010 at 4:00 pm

I’m actually not following a diet, so neither? Haha.

  33. Jon says

    September 27, 2010 at 4:01 pm

Sometimes that is the best sort, you are in total control that way.

    September 27, 2010 at 7:32 pm

    Mary,
You should be extremely proud of yourself. You are truly doing great! I wonder why weekly goals aren’t working for you. You know I personally think they can help you. Are there any others reason you wish to lose weight? If you find yourself forgetting then you should REALLY focus on how you think things will change when you’ve met your goals ya know? Do you believe you’ll have a lot more energy? Maybe you’ll be more confident with yourself when you go places? Maybe you could be anticipating the expression on peoples’ faces when they haven’t seen you in a while. There has to be something that you REALLY look forward to when you meet your goals. Just think out what that is and you’ll just feed off of that. You’ll be going to the gym regularly and it just may start to get addicting and more fun to get in better shape. Just think about all the good reactions you’ll get and how you think you will feel once you reach your goals. That feeling of accomplishment will be like none other!
