Just skimming through your blog. Looks like you’re snacking on too many refined carbos (breads). Try and make a habit of cutting those out, and the weight will come off faster. You’ll feel better too.
I’ve recently axed all gains in any form. I’ll maybe eat them once-in-a-while in the future, but they’ll no longer be a diet staple.
Switch up that nasty peanut butter for almond butter too.
This is another example of one of those things I know, I just don’t do.
One reason for this is how easy grains/carbs are for meals & snacks. Grab and go! I’m all about this. Also, its what we have in the house. Since I live at home I generally eat what my family will eat too (which includes peanut butter). Eh, its not the best for the weight loss process.
So if I am going to stop being counter productive what would you suggest I buy when I go grocery shopping? What should I get to replace all my grain filled snacks? What are your favorite low favorite eats?
Leave me a comment and help me out with my grocery list for shopping tomorrow!
Portable Snacks:
1. Fresh Fruit: Apples, plums, grapes
2. Raw Veggies + Yogurt Dip: Mix plain yogurt w/ ranch dressing mix and put in small container inside veggie container.
3. Ezekiel Tortillas w/ raw veggies: Slice veggies into strips and roll in tortilla with a drizzle of above yogurt dip.
Tough Love: You HAVE to just get over that grab and go mentality. It’s partly responsible for getting you in trouble in the first place. Food is IMPORTANT so cut time from some other less important activity (yes, blogging/tweeting might be the one), and channel it into your food prep. You’ll get faster the longer you stick with it and it will serve you well.
GOOD LUCK!
Here are a few of my staples- good luck honey- you just have to find what you like & works for you:
WW bagels
WW english muffins
vegetable steamers- you can throw these in micro and done!
sugar free jello packs
olive oil spray
bag of frozen chicken breasts
pack of light & fit yogurt (the 60 calories ones)
carton of eggs
0 & 1 point progresso soups
Michelena light frozen meals- I buy 3 a week so they are easy to grab for lunch (and they are cheaper than Lean Cuisines)
I ALWAYS take fruit with me in case I need a snack.
The more prepared you are with healthy food the easier it is to stay in the fight.
Good Luck!
OH! and bag of weight watcher cheese or WW string cheese…

I happen to think peanut butter is fine. I like yogurt, string cheese, eggs. I include olive oil and lots of garlic in my dishes. Some more thoughts… http://tinyurl.com/2k6xhs
I love almonds and raw carrots, dried cranberries, grapes, string cheese. All of those are very easy snacks to grab and go as well.
I too love peanut butter, but I know that natural peanut butter or almond butter is much better for you.
The thought of cutting out an entire type of food like grains/carbs isn’t something I’m interested in, but I do try to watch my macronutrients so I’m eating balanced amounts of proteins and carbs and fats.

I’ve lost some weight and can say that reduction of certain foods works a lot better than eliminating them from your diet completely. There are some great breads (the higher fiber content the better) out there that, eaten sparingly, make meals more palatable and the whole losing weight process seem less drastic.
Staples on my list include: avocados, broccoli, almonds, and fish.

I’m not the best person to answer this question as I’m kind of the anti-example. I lost my weight, carbing all the way. :)
Personally, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with peanut butter. Natural, with no sugar added is better, but you have to go with what you’ve got. Only maybe you have a little less of it.
For grab-and-go, I love fresh fruit, almonds, boiled eggs, cheese, yogurt, etc. Again, a protein bar or fiber bar every now and then isn’t the end of the world. Also, when you’re struggling to stay on a plan, and one of those 100-calorie snack packs might keep you on it, go for it.
It’s that whole “tippy toe” thing, and for me, it’s what moves you TOWARD healthier living that counts most.

I eat too many grains too, but sometimes our bodies are just different. Some of us are better off with some extra grains than others.
That being said, everything in moderation! Apples are my go-to snack. Yogurt with fresh fruit mixed in, eggs, peanut butter, salads with chickpeas/tuna/feta are all wonderful and quick snack foods.

Who is this person who you are changing your diet for? A doctor? A dietician? Some low-carb evangelist who knows better because they speak louder? I’d stick with the whole grain stuff. It has fiber and more vitamins, and usually tastes like ass so you won’t eat it mindlessly

Looks like you’ve already had some great suggestions!! It’s hard when your ate home eating what they are eating. I deal with that too!!

No problemw ith peanut butter. That said, moderation of it is good also. I also have to shy away from the carbs. And I love my carbs! But I don’t lose as much if I eat a diet laden in carbs. YOu don’t need to give carbs up the whole way, just limit.
I try to eat fruits and veggies instead. It’s healthier and more nutritious. Bananas are a great grab and go food. Grapes also. Wash them as soon as you get them. You can even put them in individual baggies to make it more of a grab and go snack!
I also get the fat free/sugar free jello cups (in the refridgerated section) they give a quick snack.
I make granola bars to have around the house for snacks also.
That said, anything in moderation is a good thing! :-)
