Today I’m sharing what I ate for the full day. It’s a fun little thing I like to do sometimes and there is a whole lot of other bloggers who do it too. They call it WIAW: What I Ate Wednesday. So join me in looking back at a day of eats!
This morning I discovered something amazing, absolutely amazing, about oatmeal.
It’s delicious with melted peanut butter as a topping.
Seriously, I added a spoonful of peanut butter to the chocolate oatmeal I’ve been having lately and I was in heaven.
Who knew oatmeal could taste so good? It definitely added an extra oomph to my oatmeal that I’ve been missing.
I enjoyed it while reading healthy living blogs like I do every morning. I usually read but don’t comment since I’m also busy eating. ;)
Sadly I didn’t even eat it all! I tried make a cup of oatmeal and it was just way too much. I’ll have to go back to doing 3/4 a cup. I thought I was really hungry when I was making it but it just didn’t work out.
For lunch I ate a very unhealthy thing: a steak and cheese pie.
Look at it sitting so innocently on the plate!
I ate it because I enjoy meat pies actually, it was on sale at the grocery store and… yeah… it’s good. Not good for you, but definitely good for your greedy food side.
Meat pies are a huge thing here in New Zealand and I’ve found myself really enjoying them. At first I thought they were strange little concoctions and pies were meant to be sweet only. But savory pies offer a great and quick lunch, even if it’s not particularly healthy.
Look at it’s ooey gooey deliciousness:
After my meat pie lunch I walked to the pool for my swim session. It was an easy 200 m swim, and I added on a lazy 50 m backstroke. I really have missed swimming and it was so nice to get in the pool! I’m so glad there is a pool within walking distance of my new place. :)
Post swim I ate some grapes and almonds as a snack.
Then a few hours later I hit up the gym for workout # 2 for the day. Upper body weights, core work, and a 15 minute run/walk outside in the grass. Afterwards I drank half my protein shake I got at the gym for free. They seem to like giving us free protein shakes… and I’m definitely not complaining. Yum.
Then, dinner! Today I used the crockpot for the first time!
Yes, it was an eye opening experience. It was amazing! I decided to do something easy and make chili since we had most of the necessary ingredients available. I threw it all together earlier in the day before my swim and let it cook for 7 ish hours until we were ready to eat.
I made an adaption of this recipe, and it turned out great. I might post my version of the recipe tomorrow. ;)
I ate the chili with feta cheese on top because it was the only cheese I had and I felt like I needed some cheese for some reason. Oh yes, because I like cheese. It gave it a nice little something extra.
It turned out so good! It ended up being thick and delicious just like I like my chili. I was really, really proud of my first attempt at crockpot cooking. I know that it will become a much beloved kitchen appliance now since it’s amazing to come home to an already cooked meal after working out at night. That made the day end on a good note.
Do you use a crockpot/slowcooker often? Have any awesome recipes to share?
