Workout complete.
I said I’d do it and I did it. I went to sleep early last night (thanks Melatonin!) and woke up early this morning to hit the gym before work.
Also? It felt GOOD. I did a bit of cardio and then went and lifted some weights. WEIGHTS! This was the first time I’ve lifted weights in months. 6 months? Woah.
I missed it hard. It gives me such a good feeling. It reminded me of how good it feels to feel strong. I liked it a lot.
I’ve definitely lost some strength in the time off but it wasn’t as bad as I thought. I only worked chest and back so it’s not a complete picture either. I definitely plan to keep lifting in the mornings since the gym is pretty empty in the free weights area.
Tonight the agenda includes a walk with JuJu and then some walking downtown as I’m going to a Memphis Grizzlies game (Go Grizz!). Altogether it will be a pretty successful day in the land of Mary.
Can’t wait to do the same thing tomorrow. I’m actually looking forward to a morning workout tomorrow! Crazy, right?
Thanks for sharing this one. It is really hard to loss weight and it takes hard work, dedication and sacrifices to losses your weight. Good luck to your endeavors!
Go you!!!
Mary! Weights are so important to us women! Great job on starting to lift again. I lift at least 2 times a week. I need to build upper body strength because I need to be able to do push-ups for a police test. I love lift and I wish more women would lift.
I love lifting! I didn’t have a gym for a while so I wasn’t doing it but now that I’m a gym member I’m so excited!
It need a lot of dedications and commitment to do weights for long term. Kudos to you for losing 40 lbs. Any double digit figure weight loss is great achievement.
Even though I know how important strength training is, I absolutely hate lifting weights. My arms, back and shoulders are my weakest links and it just seems like the slightest bit of weight is so uncomfortable to lift. I commend you on your dedication and wanted to let you know that I am inspired by your commitment and I love your blogs! Keep up the fantastic job!
It’s soo hard to get up in the morning but once you complete a morning workout, you feel a million times better. I come to work all hyper and stuff, resembling a cat chasing a laser methinks. Stick to it, you’re a champ!
I travel a lot for work, so melatonin is great for getting my body on local time to sleep. I will use it on occasion at home when I really can’t get to sleep- it’s magical!
So true! Once you get that workout in the day is so accomplished already.
I always feel so much better if I make the effort in the morning to go to the gym but some mornings, it’s just too hard to get out of bed early. Well done you!
